Here's a quick Part 1 of our March newsletter because we have lots of events and an internship deadline coming up quite soon. We'll send another email in a week or two with more details about what we are up to this spring. (And if you're new to our mailing list, welcome! We're so happy you're here.)

Spring Work on the Farm

March 3 from 5-8 PM: Sustainapalooza at ISU (tonight!)

March 12 at 6:30 PM : Growing Food in Iowa Class at Wheatsfield (class full!)

March 15: Deadline to Apply for Summer Internships!

March 23 from 5:30-7:00 PM: Seed Starting Class at Nevada Library taught by Alice and Elena. Registration is required. Click here to register.

March 28: Stamping & Card-Making Activity at Campus Service Day in the MU at Iowa State (12-4 PM).

April 4: Feed the Need at Reiman Gardens. Alice and Schontonia are leading a program called "Plant It, Pass It On: Seed & Plant Sharing and Growing Food in Containers" as part of this very cool, day-long event!

April 11: Farm Work Day (probably 1-4 PM, time TBD)

April 18: Spring Repair Cafe and Seed Library Seed & Plant Sharing Event at the Ames Public Library.

April 25: Community Garage Sale Fundraiser from 9 AM - 3 PM (more details below).

May 16 from 10-12 PM: Annual Seed and Plant Share at the Romero House

2026 Agroecology Internships - Apply by March 15 or Help Us Spread the Word!
We are seeking interns with a passion for food sovereignty-based agriculture and social justice to work with us this growing season. Our internships take place between mid-May and mid-October and can range from 2-5 months, depending on the intern’s interest and our availability. Mustard Seed Community Garage Sale Fundraiser
821 Clark Ave April 25th 9am-3pm *(Rain or freeze date is May 2nd same time)
Need some early spring cleaning motivation? Donate items that you’re ready to part with to a garage sale fundraiser for Mustard Seed’s community kitchen project. Items can be dropped off the week before or brought over the morning of (more info to come). They do not need to be pre-priced, and may be picked up if not sold by the next day at noon, or otherwise will be donated.

Fundraising Efforts
We will be sharing more information soon about some fun fundraising ideas we have in store for this season. We are so grateful for all the support we already receive, and we are going to be doing some extra fundraising this year to support dreams we have that will help us continue to provide healthy, delicious food and agroecology education to our community. If you are interested in helping with our fundraising efforts this year (event support, grant writing, etc), please let us know by emailing outreach.mustardseed@gmail.com.
