July 5th GARLIC HARVEST!

If you are bored on July 5, come join us for some garlic excitement!

Here are some historic pictures of previous garlic harvests, including a happy Alice Foster trimming garlic.

#1 is that you are invited to help us harvest GARLIC on July 5th!
GARLIC HARVEST: Garlic harvest is a big fun process - pulling up the plants, trimming and sorting them, hanging them from the rafters in our corncrib. Despite the tiny amounts of rain, we still have a lot of healthy garlic to harvest and we could really use a big crew. It seems like many people have the 5th of July off of work as the Independence Day holiday observed, but I'm guessing that you might have already done all your partying and picnicking over the weekend. Perhaps what you might be longing for by Monday is some good collaborative work followed by celebratory garlic.
We will work from 8am-noon, have a potluck lunch, and then work 1-4. You are welcome to come to either or both shifts and join us for lunch. We will send you home with garlic and probably have some roasted garlic as part of our potluck lunch. (RSVP would be lovely to get an idea of numbers)

FARM CLASS:
We are having farm classes on Wednesdays (on the farm, not zoom) after lunch, about 1-2pm. These are introductory classes on a wide variety of topics, like soil science, food systems, crop rotation, prairie, permaculture design, seed saving, etc. please let me know if you are interested in joining us. This coming class is an intro to permaculture design. (text 978-471-8414)

COVID UPDATE:
We are trying to update our covid protocols monthly as the situation changes, but it's been so busy on the farm that we haven't been doing the best job of updating our website or communicating all these changes. Since the beginning of June, we have transitioned to masks optional on the farm and have been welcoming kids (age 12 and up) to our bigger work times (like harvest mornings and work days). This has all been going very well and it's been fun to see people's faces again! If you would like to come out to the farm with kids younger than 12, please just reach out to us so that we can find a time when there's not such a big crowd.

ON FARM EVENTS??!?!?
We would love to start having some on farm events! Are you interested in this too? Do you have a request for what you would enjoy? Would you like to help us organize an event? Let us know what you would like to do!

VOLUNTEER TIMES:
Besides garlic harvest on July 5, we are looking for help generally. The best times to help are Tuesday and Friday mornings for harvest 7-10am, and wednesday mornings at 8am for misc weeding and planting. Just let us know if you want to help!!

Thanks so much!
