Looking for Smart in all the right places
Premise: A light exploration of “animal intelligence” to provide a curiosity-charged and positive mental health break for all of us. Ultimately, “seeing” intelligence in the non-human world changes our relationship to them and each other, as Aldo Leopold would say, from conqueror to plain member and citizen.

I wanted to share some information about an action being organized by our friends at the Ames Catholic Worker house:
Dear Friends,
For this Giving Tuesday, if you are looking for a way to give back to your community, consider a donation to Mustard Seed Community Farm. Your support will help us repair and renovate our corn-crib, and to continue to share good food with those in need and our work to build a more just and equitable society.
A BIG THANK YOU to
the Story County Community Foundation !!!
and Practical Farmers of Iowa!!!!
Have you heard that Mustard Seed Community Farm has received a $6000 grant from the Story County Community Foundation this year? These funds will be used to support our corn crib rehabilitation project and will directly help us to increase the farm’s food and supply storage capacity via corn crib rehabilitation.
Do you like braiding? How about bread? Of course the answer is Yes, Yes!! So, come join Benjamin and the Mustard Seed Community this Friday @ 3pm (11/13), for the first virtual skillshare of the season, where you'll learn how to bake challah and hear some fun facts about the history and significance of this traditional Jewish Sabbath bread.
it's been a wild and difficult and sometimes surreal year so far.
While most of the regular garden work is done for the season, we are taking advantage of some nice weather this week to do a few end of season things, including digging the last carrots and cleaning the last garlic. We are looking for some helpers this Tuesday, election day. if you would like some concrete work to distract you from your worries about the state of the nation - come on out to the farm!
