Garlic Planting, Leaf Collection, Potluck ! ! !

Greetings Folks!

Mustard Seed Community Farm has 3 big things to relay today; 1) volunteer workday this Sat. Oct. 25, 2) leaf donation request and 3) 1st winter potluck announcement. Hope you can help or join us for one or all of these activities. Thanks, Nate (515-231-2002).

1) Volunteer Day, Sat. Oct. 25th from 9 am to 5 pm.
-Its garlic planting time and we have a huge need for workers to help make it happen. We have a lot of garlic to plant and mulch - its an exciting event. Come for all day, or morning/afternoon. We'll take a break for lunch around 11:30.

2) Please donate your raked leaves to us!
-We need bags of leaves, preferably in black plastic, to store at the farm until potato mulching next June. No sticks or other yard waste preferably, and especially no walnut related material. We'd be glad to pick them up or even better if you want to deliver them. Please call or text Nate @ 515 231 2002 to coordinate something.

3) Farm Potluck, 11/21, with the following announcement by the coordinators;

Hi friends,

To inaugurate the cold season, we are cooking chili! Everyone is invited to get together and share dinner and friendship on Friday, November 21.

We are looking for four volunteers to make their own distinct variety of chili. If you are interested, please contact Mark or Amanda at markg729@gmail.com or amanda.raster@gmail.com. We want to coordinate this to avoid duplicate recipes. To foster the community element of sharing delicious food, we ask that the volunteers bring raw ingredients (except for beans - you'll definitely want to cook those in advance) and empty cooking pots so we can all cook together.

Other than chili we need complementary dishes (like cornbread!) to make a complete dinner. If you bring one of those there is no need to contact us.

Join us at 704 Duff Ave, Ames from 6pm - 8pm on Friday, November 21.
