music festival gratitude, and upcoming events

here's an abbreviated version of the long blog i just accidentally erased:
1. gratitude for all those who helped make a music festival in the rain an amazing success.
2. upcoming pot-lucks.
3. opportunities to work at mustard seed.

this is a picture of our neighbor Steve Ryan (taken by radford davis). Thanks Steve and Sara for letting us rearrange your morton shed at the last minute and move our whole event into your garage. In the midst of our severe drought, after zero rain for weeks, we had an all day drizzle this Saturday for our music festival. We changed all our plans and surprisingly, everything worked out wonderfully. The sound was good in the garage, the bands were excellent, the people were full of good cheer, the food was local, fresh, and rich. Thank you bands for all the practicing you do to sound so excellent, and for coming out in the rain at such bargain prices. thanks to our farm team, and my mom, and merle and marsha, for putting in the long hours from set-up to clean-up. Thanks to AgArts and all the folks that participated in the fundraiser to help pay these musicians and our fantastic caller. Thanks to all for braving the damp.
(in the end, we only got .3 inches of rain - which is undetectable by today, tuesday. oh well.)

POTLUCKS:
We have only 2 potlucks left this summer. Then we will switch to the yet-un-made winter in-town schedule. As always, all opinions welcome and encouraged. We are not trying to indoctrinate - we are trying to create space for sharing and listening, thinking and considering diverse points of view and experience. We are trying to be community.
for now these work as such:
5pm: soccer scrimage (you do not need to be a superstar to join us)
6pm: potluck dinner
7pm: roundtable discussion.

Aug 31 - What's the Catholic about in the Catholic Worker?
We were going to have a discussion on the ethics of hunting, but our leader had to postpone, so some of Alice's visiting friends, Dorothy and Mathew will be our substitute leaders. As you might know, our farm is part of the Catholic Worker movement which believes in solidarity with the poor, nonviolence, the works of mercy, community and craft economics, and much more, but the majority of our team isn't Catholic. Is this weird? Is this normal? Why is it in our name if we welcome people of all faiths or none? What about all the crazy stuff going on with the catholic church? What's the difference between a Catholic faith and the Catholic church? Who doesn't have something to say about the Catholic church?

Sept 7 - War and Peace.

Do You Want to Work on the FARM now that the weather is cool and nice?
